    Description

This house has been loved by the same man for the past 31 years. Hehas awakened each morning grateful to be in her presence. He has covered her floors with rugs from another country and tended her roof and gutters with the very finest materials. He even built a grand carriage house to compliment the lines of her beauty and covered the weeds of the rear yard with pea gravel and narrow band bricks to protect her grounds from anything but the faded blossoms of the crepe myrtle and fruit trees which he planted to shield her sides and offer a glimpse of beauty through her uppermost windows. All he ever wanted was to sit by her fires on winter evenings and retreat at day's end to his study on the second floor to think. In the early morning he would take his coffee on the east facing balcony perched off a second-floor bedroom and when the holidays arrived, he'd open the bejeweled front door to welcome guests into the front hall adorned with a cut glass bay window nestled at the foot of the long staircase etched in cherry. The other true love of his life, his wife, adored baseball and cooking. During those years, she spent her most precious moments creating delicious meals in their kitchen, everything from pots of jambalaya on Art Show weekends to plates of cookies and brownies that knew no match for their wonderful flavors. For her, he designed a kitchen with a large center island where grandchildren and friends could sit and watch her cook while enjoying each other's stories of all that had happened that day. The kitchen is filled with oak cabinets on every side creating a space for everything. The most enticing aromas flooded the nearby screened porch where dinner might be taken in the early cool of changing seasons. Aside from the house, the owner's favorite space was his workshop in the carriage house and its adjoining greenhouse.
